Together 24 hours walk to combat cancer on 26 and 27 May 2018

Samenop voor Hoop in Alphen aan den Rijn on 26 and 27 May 2018 is a local walking event to collect money for the Dutch Cancer Society. For 24 hours, team members walk alternately on a course. This relay symbolizes the ongoing battle against cancer.

At a SamenLoop we focus on cancer and celebrate life. During the walking relay there are musical performances, a fair and various ceremonies where everyone is welcome. That's how we make the difference together. Every SamenLoop is organized by volunteers from start to finish. Always three fixed ceremonies come back:

• The Opening Round with survivors
With warm encouragement from family, friends and other interested people, people who have or have had cancer will walk the first round of the course. This way we show that there is hope and that we are there for each other.

• The Candle ceremony
In the evening, candle bags with personal messages illuminate the course. And with a special ceremony we remember loved ones, we support each other and we celebrate that people have overcome cancer.

• The closing ceremony
After 24 hours of walking everyone runs together this festive final round. At the end the proceeds will be announced and the check will be handed over to the Dutch Cancer Society.

KinderLoop for primary school students
At many SamenLopen is a KinderLoop. This shortened sponsor run for primary school students takes place in parallel with the 24-hour run. To raise a nice amount, the children sponsor and organize campaigns. The school is closely involved in this.
